Raffles Hospital Beijing: Phone Lines, Booking and Billing

Raffles Hospital Beijing is part of Raffles Medical Group, a Singapore-based private group, and sits in the Kunsha Building at 16 Xinyuanli, Chaoyang District. Its details appear on two official websites, the group site and the group's China site, and the phone numbers on the two do not fully match. This page shows both and what each line is for.

The China site and the embassy list agree on 8793 7700 for appointments and 8793 7999 for emergencies. The group site still shows 6462 9112 as the main line; we have not called any of these numbers, so we cannot say whether the older one still works. Use 8793 7700 first, and the email address for anything you want in writing.

Making an appointment

The China site's appointment page lists three routes: an email link, the WeChat account RafflesHospital_BJ (send your request in the chat), and phone. It does not describe a process specific to patients outside China. Ask for the date, time, doctor and department in writing before you book travel. The group site lists the Beijing hospital's services as family medicine, specialist services, dentistry and orthodontics, health screenings, physiotherapy and travel medicine; the China site lists more departments by name. A department appearing in a menu is not a promise that a specialist is available on your dates.

Direct billing

The China site's direct-billing page says Raffles Hospital Beijing bills more than 50 domestic and international insurers directly, that any co-payment or deductible in your policy is yours to pay, and that only primary insurance coverage is accepted for direct billing. On your first visit, bring your insurance card and your passport; the cashier asks you to complete the insurer's claim form and records your policy. On later visits a signature is enough, according to the page.

The page lists contracted international insurers by name, including AIG, Bupa, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Emergency Assistance Japan, IMG, MAI, Ping An, Taikang, Tokio Marine and Windstone. The page carries a 2024 copyright line, so check with your insurer that the arrangement is current. If your insurer is not named, the page asks you to phone, since it says the list changes often. If you are paying yourself, the page says cheques, debit cards and credit cards are accepted; our payment guide explains card limits for visitors. The site also describes membership and deposit plans with discounts; we do not assess or recommend them.

Emergency line and opening hours

All three sources give +86 10 8793 7999 as the emergency line, and the group site lists the Beijing hospital's opening hours as 24/7. The China site's emergency department page returned an error when we tried it, so we have not read what emergency care covers. In a life-threatening emergency, call 120.

Finding Xinyuanli

The hospital is in Suite 105, Wing 1 of the Kunsha Building at 16 Xinyuanli, Chaoyang District. For a taxi, the embassy list gives the Chinese address as 北京市朝阳区新源里16号琨莎中心1座105室. WeChat booking through the chat box suits people already living in Beijing; from abroad, email gives you a written record of the date and doctor you were offered.

Which languages are listed

The German embassy list notes English, German and French service for Raffles Hospital Beijing. The hospital's own pages we read do not state which languages its doctors consult in. If English is not your language, ask at booking what can be arranged.

Departments listed for Beijing

The China site's menu for the Beijing hospital lists, among others, family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental, eye, ENT, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, radiology, traditional Chinese medicine and vaccination. The German embassy list gives a separate dental appointment line, +86 10 8793 7702. A name in the menu tells you the hospital offers that service in some form; it does not tell you how often a specialist is in clinic, so ask for a date with that doctor before you travel.

What the group's other pages do not tell you

Raffles Medical Group runs hospitals in Singapore and elsewhere in China. Services, subsidies and specialists described for those hospitals do not carry over to Beijing. When you read about Raffles on the group site, check that the page is about the Beijing hospital before relying on it.
