Three settings, three sets of rules

The hospital's English patient guide treats outpatient, inpatient and emergency care separately, and the differences affect what you should plan and what you pay at the time.

The emergency rule is easy to miss and expensive to discover late. Even when your insurer appears on the hospital's list, plan to pay the emergency bill yourself and keep every receipt.

Booking the International Healthcare Center

The IHC lists one appointment number, +86 571 8600 6118, and the email address [email protected]. Neither page we read gives phone hours. The online form asks for a mobile number, email address, preferred date and the reason for the visit; the department, doctor, name, date of birth and nationality fields are marked optional. The hospital says it replies within 24 to 48 hours, and that if you have heard nothing after 48 hours you should phone or email. The form does not say whether a mobile number from outside China is accepted, so give your email address as well and watch for a reply there.

The patient guide describes what follows: the IHC arranges a doctor based on your needs, you attend on the agreed date with your passport and insurance card, and the IHC then arranges any tests, medicines, follow-up appointments or admission. A booking page also shows a QR code for the IHC's WeChat account.

Two outpatient sites

The contact page gives separate addresses for each part of the service:

Xiasha Road is in Qiantang, in the east of the city, a long way from Qingchun. A first visit booked at Qiantang and an admission at Qingchun would mean two different journeys, so check which site your confirmation names. The hospital's booking form has an optional "location" field you can use to say which site suits you.

Insurers billed directly

The hospital's medical insurance page lists 29 companies with a service phone number for each. They include international insurers and assistance companies such as Cigna, Bupa, Allianz Worldwide Care, AIA, International SOS and MSH, Chinese insurers such as Ping An Health, PICC, Taikang and CPIC Allianz, and claims administrators such as MediLink-Global, WellBe and DTHealth. One entry, LE'AN, has no number. The page is undated (its footer reads 2024).

A company on the list has an agreement with the hospital; your own plan may still exclude outpatient care, need pre-approval, or leave a co-payment. Call the number on your insurance card before you travel. English at the IHC

The IHC's pages are in English and the service is aimed at international patients, but the hospital does not list the languages its doctors use. One note in the patient guide is telling: holders of China's national healthcare security card can go to the IHC's Nurse Station 1, where nurses "can assist in finding a doctor with good English skills". That suggests English-speaking doctors are found case by case. Mention any other language you need at the time of booking, and allow the hospital time to arrange it.

Other lists that mention the hospital

The Belgian embassy's May 2026 list of approved hospitals includes Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital with a contact number that differs from the IHC line. That list appears to serve medical examinations for visa or residence purposes, so for a clinical appointment use the IHC's own contacts.
